It's been too long since I presented a new Twining Necklaces Knit pick of the month. I've still been knitting, however, I wanted to take some time out to actually finish a project before introducing yet another beautiful pattern. So many patterns, so little time. Either way, I digress.
This month's Knit came with the news of the blizzard that hit New York this weekend. It's finally getting cold, and it was time for me to stop pretending it's 50 degrees and start wrapping up. So I thought I would luxuriate in this snow day with a cute winter hat. I can barely contain my excitement for, One, actually finishing it during the Snowpocalypse, and Two, how awesome it came out.
The Charlotte Split Brim Slouch by Pixie Bell is a quick knit with bulky yarn. She recommends using the ever popular, Lion Brand - Thick and Quick, however, I used 3 skeins of Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Tweed yarn (North Pole Heather - $3.49) simultaneously, as the yarn is worsted weight. I love the look of tweedy, rustic, donagal yarn, it's beautiful and practical enough to withstand the cold! What I loved about this gorgeous hat is that it's styled in the way of a bonnet with a split in the back, two long-ish braids adorning the front, and a pompom to bring it all together. Something about first snows always feels childlike, and I wanted a playful cozy hat.
The next thing I'm excited about is that I ended up choosing a shade that matches perfectly with the Seafaring Scarf I knit up last year. Yes, everyone, I actually finished it! Up until now, I didn't really have cause to wear it what with but with our 70 degree Twilight Zone Christmas we had on the East Coast. But, I'm pretty much in love with it! It is the epitome of cozy love.
Yay for finished knits!
